Since 2001, Collector
University has been
hosting free seminars
focusing on how
to collect money
from patients throughout
various parts of
the country. In
2001, our clients
contacted us asking
if we would host
training sessions
for their patient
account representatives,
admission personnel,
and billers/coders.
We started realizing
our clients’ attendees
really enjoyed and
benefitted from
our training sessions.
Our next step was
to take our seminars
on the road, but
we felt there would
be two main concerns
for attendees. The
first concern would
be cost - who could
afford to attend
- so we said, “Let’s
make it free.” The
second concern was
the fact that attendees
do not want to be
sold anything! They
just want to learn,
share ideas, and
network with their
colleagues. The
result of these
two concerns are
our seminars today
– a cost-free, sales-free
seminar.
Our speaker,
Anthony Carabello,
is extremely engaging,
knowledgeable and
experienced.
Tony interacts with
his audience, does
real-life role-playing,
and addresses real
issues from the
medical field using
personal examples
from the attendees.
This group participation
ensures that the
subject matter benefits
all attendees, from
upper level management
to staff.
CU attendees leave
with a better understanding
of collection laws,
removing excuses,
overcoming objections,
and renewed confidence
on their very next
call. This
means immediate
generation of dollars
for your practice!
In the seminar,
Mr. Carabello will
role play objections
and excuses given
by patients such
as, “The doctor
only saw me for
5 minutes,” “I never
received a statement,”
and “My insurance
was to pay,” as
well as your funniest
ones, so make sure
you come prepared
with a good one!
The Collection Professor
will demonstrate
how to and how not
to handle these
objections with
the help of his
cast of characters.
Feel free to volunteer
to be the “bad patient;”
it releases a lot
of stress!
Our goals in the
seminar are to help
you increase your
bottom line by:
- Understanding the DOs and DON’Ts of collection practices
- Creating an atmosphere where both the staff and patients understand that payment is expected at the time of service
- Providing a sense of urgency and removing patients’ objections and excuses
- Improving “talk offs” and increasing production
- Understanding how today’s patients want to pay their bills
